Built at the edge of an idyllic lagoon, Kamalaya is a Wellness Sanctuary and Holistic Spa lauded by Condé Nast Traveler as one of the ten most beautiful islands in the world. Centered around a cave temple that once served Buddhist monks as a place of meditation and spiritual retreat, all accommodation takes full advantage of the magnificent views and draws on its natural environs to create modern but comfortable interiors. The reviews from our clients are ecstatic!

Kamalaya has won 5 new awards in 2010: “Favorite Destination Spa International” from the Spa Magazine; SpaFinder Readers’ Choice Awards 2010; the Crystal Awards Asia Pacific 2010; TATLER UK Spa Awards 2010; and the Thailand Tourism Awards 2010.

This is truly a place to restore, renew and rejuvenate at one of Essential Escapes hottest new retreats.

Accommodation

Choose from Hillside Rooms (cosy retreats near the Yoga Pavilion and Yantra Hall), Sea View Suites (with coastal views and private balconies), Sea View Villas (relax on a daybed on a large private balcony), Beach Front Villas (set on the beach front lawns, with separate living area), Rock Top Villa (two bedrooms + living room, incorporating natural rock boulders), Pool Villa (one bedroom + living room, with a private pool), or the Beach Front Pool Villa (one or two bedrooms + living area, private pool overlooking the beach and private open air bathroom).

Dining

Kamalaya's Soma Restaurant and Amrita Café feature sumptuous cuisine with sweeping views of ocean, sky, and outlying islands. The adjoining Alchemy Bar serves ambrosial tonics based on ancient Taoist, Thai, and Ayurvedic recipes. The chef behind the healthy cuisine sees nutrition as healing medicine, but even for those following a detox, there are many delicious indulgences available. In fact, guests from all programmes are often tempted by dishes on the detox menu.  The hotel recently won the 'best concious cuisine' at the Crystal Awards 2011.

Facilities

Hill trekking, elephant trekking, cave and lagoon visits, prepared picnics, yoga, tai’chi, chi gong, meditation, rock climbing, hiking, mountain biking, life enhancement programs, diagnostic procedures, educational programmes and a conference centre

Location

45 minutes from the airport in Koh Samui in Thailand
